About Ethan

The last six years have been an incredible journey. I've built various apps and websites along the way and learned a great deal. Below is a quick timeline, but my favorite year was 2024; at age 14, I began earning my own income by onboarding clients and building and hosting websites for them.

I am fully DBS checked, so families can feel confident booking a safe and trusted coding experience for young learners.

Age 10

My First Lines of Code

Lockdown was a difficult time for everyone, but I used it to explore code. I spent those months learning the basics of web development and ended up building a functional social media platform just so my friends and I could stay connected while we were stuck at home. That sense of achievement kickstarted my journey in programming.

Expanding on my newfound Passion

Once the platform was up and running, I wanted to build more features. I set a goal to integrate video calling so I could actually see my friends while we chatted. This was also when I started experimenting with app development. I wanted our connection to be just a tap away, taking things beyond the browser and into our pockets.

Exploring new frameworks

By this stage I was diving into the deep end with more complex frameworks like Next.js and building mobile apps using React Native. It was a lot of learning to balance, usually managed alongside the odd game of Fortnite. I found that sometimes the best way to solve a bug was to take a quick break, grab a win, and come back with a fresh perspective.

Professional Work

This was the year everything changed. I moved beyond personal projects and started providing professional services to real-world clients. Whether it was building bespoke web applications or scaling mobile apps, I learned that coding is more than just syntax: it's about understanding a client's vision and making it a reality.

Homeschool reports

Ethan's journey was exciting to watch, and ensuring he could learn without restriction was a key part of enabling him to build his success. However, with that home-schooling journey came the yearly reports which had to satisfy the local authorities, specifically for the Elective Home Education authority. With three years behind me now, creating reports that met, and probably exceeded those requirements, we decided that Ethan's Coding Academy would include reports that you can use as supporting evidence to fulfilling your obligations with your local authority. I am happy to take a call if you have any questions or just want a bit of guidance! - Wayne (the parent)
